Jenny Higgins Receives Outstanding Undergraduate Award

Jenny Higgins will graduate in May 2008 at the age of 19 with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. She currently has a 4.0 GPA and was the Vice President of the Mason AFCEA-NOVA subchapter for one year, during which she helped plan subchapter events and facilitate meetings. She also designed, developed, and maintained the subchapter's website.

In 2003, Jenny designed and developed an online, multiplayer virtual dog game, Furry-Paws.com, which now boasts over 630,000 members. She has been maintaining and updating the website for over 4 years. She also manages a team of over 30 site moderators, and has held several charity drives through Furry-Paws.com, raising a total of over $60,000 for various charities.

During the summer of 2007, Jenny had an internship with IBM and Ricoh's joint venture InfoPrint Solutions Company. She worked in the Control Unit Development group designing, architecting, developing, and debugging a hardware tool which interfaced a personal computer with a high-speed production printer. The company is sponsoring the completion of her senior design project.

After graduation, she will attend Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, Colorado, where she has been offered funding as well as a research assistantship to pursue a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering.
