Our research centers and laboratories provide environments that enhance the tools, collaboration, and support available to researchers while offering students meaningful, real-world learning experiences.

Research Centers

Each center is led by faculty who, together with collaborating doctoral students, leverage college and external resources to conduct diverse sponsored projects, present research at conferences, and publish articles and reports.

C-TASC

The Center for Trusted, Accelerated, and Secure Computing and Communication (C-TASC) is a multidisciplinary research center with overarching research spanning the cybersecurity, hardware security, accelerated computing, and machine learning domains.

Wireless Cyber Center

The Wireless Cyber Center (WirelessCyber@Mason) is a multidisciplinary research center that brings together leading researchers from multiple departments to advance internationally recognized work in wireless and cybersecurity, conducting cross-disciplinary research in areas.

Research labs supported by a variety of government and industry sponsors provide faculty, students and post-docs with outstanding opportunities for research, development, and technical innovation.

CNL Lab

The Communications and Networks Laboratory (CNL) Lab focuses on com­mu­ni­ca­tion net­works and sys­tems, with an em­pha­sis on the­ory, ar­chi­tec­ture, mod­el­ing, per­for­mance analy­sis, multiac­cess, mo­bil­ity, rout­ing and switch­ing, tele­traf­fic, and pro­to­cols.

CAMLsec Lab

The Computer Architecture, Machine Learning, and Security (CAMLsec) Lab conducts research on machine learning for security, machine learning security & privacy, microarchitecture security, and hardware support for security.

CERG group

The Cryptographic Engineering Research (CERG) Group is a research team specializing in hardware and software implementations of cryptographic algorithms, including high-performance/low-power designs, fault-tolerant and attack-resistant methods, and attack implementations.

CubeSat/SatCom Engineering Lab

Under director Peter Pachowicz, the CubeSat/SatCom Engineering Lab focuses on hands-on engineering of ultra-small CubeSats and satellite communications systems by combining research and educational objectives.

HArt Lab

Researchers in the Hardware Security and Artificial Intelligence (HArt) Lab study computer architecture security using machine learning to create, detect, and defend emerging security threats on computing systems.

Mason Nanoelectronics Lab

The Mason Nano Lab is a research center advancing emerging nanoscale materials and devices, including energy-efficient logic and memory, low-dimensional materials, nanoscale transport studies, and beyond-silicon electronics.

NAPL Lab

The Network Architecture and Performance Laboratory (NAPL) Lab con­ducts re­search on the de­sign, ar­chi­tec­ture, and per­for­mance of com­mu­ni­ca­tion net­works, en­com­pass­ing wire­line, wire­less, and het­ero­ge­neous net­works.

Neural Engineering Lab

The Neural Engineering Lab focuses on the de­vel­op­ment of pros­thetic de­vices (or parts of de­vices) to help peo­ple with dis­abil­i­ties, par­tic­u­larly with patholo­gies of the ner­vous sys­tem.

Ocean Acoustic Signal Processing Group

The Ocean Acoustic Signal Processing Group works on multi-dis­ci­pli­nary prob­lems that re­quire a syn­the­sis of ar­ray pro­cess­ing, acoustics, and oceanog­ra­phy.

PRL

The Parsa Research Laboratory (PRL) focuses on developing full stack novel brain-inspired paradigms for accurate, energy efficient, fast, and reliable intelligence at the edge.

JQub

The Junction of Quantum-Classical Computer-Aided Design (JQub) Lab focuses on automated machine learning, embedded systems, domain-specific computing and quantum computing.

WICL Lab

The Wireless Innovation and Cybersecurity Lab (WICL) conducts research in wireless and cyber-physical system security and privacy, with work spanning 5G, IoT, physical-layer security, cryptography, theory, and optimization.

Biomedical Imaging Laboratory

Under principle investigators Siddhartha Sikdar and Parag Chitnis, the in­ter­dis­ci­pli­nary Biomedical Imaging Lab conducts translational research using imaging to investigate pathophysiology and function.
